REGISTRATION:

Please note there are no entries on the day
For walkers & runners 
Registration from 7am
for all distances: 30 miles; 22 miles; 20 miles; 18 miles; 12 miles; 10 miles; 8 miles.

START TIMES:

Longer routes (20 miles and above): eEntrants may start any time between 7:30 – 09:00am
Shorter routes (below 20 miles): entrants may start any time between 9:00 – 10:00am.

Entrants are welcome to start at any time during these times bands, but must register first.

ROUTE ORDER:

Please make sure that you start with your longest route first, continuing down to your shortest route as the last section of the day. E.g. if you are doing 30 miles, start with the 12 mile route, then 10  and finally 8 miles.

If you are doing multiple loops, you must start each loop (i.e. leave the hall) by the time given in the table at the top of this page otherwise you will be retired – this is to ensure entrants can complete the full course by the finish time of 8pm.

TIME LIMIT:

All to finish by 8pm

REFRESHMENTS:

Hot/cold drinks & toast at the start.
Light refreshments at mid-point returns and final meal at finish.
Food will only be provided at Machen Village Hall.

While we will make every effort to provide Vegetarian, Vegan and Gluten Free food options, these may be limited on the day and we’d request that if you have specific dietary requirements please bring food with you.

Please note food provision and choice may change depending on Covid requirements at the time of the event. Please do check back on this page before the event starts for any updates.

Please remember to bring your own mug.

PARKING AND ACCOMMODATION:

There is limited parking at Machen Village Hall, otherwise there is street parking near the venue. Accommodation to suit all budgets is available locally.

CERTIFICATES:

A certificate will be awarded to all finishers.

COVID:

We have carefully considered how best to reduce the risk of Covid-19 transmission in planning this event and will continue to follow the latest government guidance – this may mean having to make changes to the event (e.g. food) at short notice. As part of this, entrants must not attend this event if they or a close contact has recently been diagnosed with or shown any Covid-19 symptoms, are awaiting test results or are self-isolating under current Government guidance.


WHY NOT JOIN THE LDWA?

For this event there is a price difference between an LDWA member and a non-member.

To join the LDWA it only costs from £18.00 for a whole year of walking opportunities, Challenge events & other benefits.

  • The LDWA website that has lots of useful information about walking including access to the Long Distance Paths section, the only one of its kind in the UK
  • Group social walks – members can automatically join the South Wales LDWA group and enjoy a led walk without the need to navigate, (if you can complete two or more circles you are capable of walking with our friendly, welcoming group)
