- Changes: Have recced the second loop which was based on an earlier route I did with Bob Smith, and I forgot that this loop was started up at the Penwyllt Quarry Carparks which has resulted in the 2nd loop being substantially longer. I can't brush 6 miles under the carpet and pretend it never happened so I am owning up now !

Quite a lot of ascent for the distance and great views if the weather allows. The walk includes two major ups, both are quite big pulls as the total ascent for the walk is 4000ft.

The 5 mile ‘western’ loop uses part of the Offa’s Dyke National Trail en route to an exploration of King’s Wood. The 9 mile ‘northern’ loop visits Buckholt Wood and Welsh Newton Common, while the 13 mile ‘southern’ loop takes in a number of local landmarks including the Kymin and the ‘Cathedral of the Forest’ in Newland.
